1. What is the difference between A320 revalidation and renewal?
Revalidation happens before the rating expires and preserves the original expiry month if flown within the three-month window. Renewal happens after the rating has expired and requires refresher training assessed by an ATO.
2. How long is an EASA A320 type rating valid?
A multi-pilot aeroplane type rating is valid for twelve months from the date of issue or from the last revalidation, provided the proficiency check is flown within the three months preceding expiry.
3. Can I revalidate my EASA A320 rating outside Europe?
Yes. Part-FCL.740.A allows revalidation on any EASA-qualified Full Flight Simulator of the correct type, with an EASA-authorised Type Rating Examiner holding a current Form 4.
4. Where can I do an EASA LPC in Asia?

5. What happens if my A320 type rating expires?
If the rating has lapsed you must complete refresher training at an ATO under AMC1 FCL.740(b)(1), then pass a proficiency check to renew the rating. Refresher scope is individually assessed based on your recency and experience.
6. Can I do LPC and OPC together on the A320?
Yes, when the examiner is authorised for both and the profile covers both scopes. Combined sessions are the norm for AOC-employed candidates.
7. Does EASA accept LPCs conducted in Thailand?
Yes, provided the simulator is EASA-qualified and the examiner holds a current Form 4 for the licence category involved.
8. What is FCL.740 refresher training?
AMC1 FCL.740(b)(1) is the material governing renewal after a rating has lapsed. The ATO assesses the pilot individually and designs training proportionate to recency and experience. The fixed tier tables in previous versions were removed in 2020.
9. How do I renew an A320 type rating that expired more than three years ago?
The same AMC1 FCL.740(b)(1) framework applies. Expect a larger refresher block. If you hold a current ICAO A320 rating on another authority licence, the training block may be reduced or waived, subject to your State of Licence Issue.
10. Do I need PBN to revalidate my IR on an A320?
Yes. Since 26 April 2021 every IR revalidation must include an RNP APCH to retain PBN privileges. The AEROWA revalidation profile always includes one.
11. How many hours is an A320 LPC session?
Four hours of Full Flight Simulator time, split between the two pilots occupying the crew seats.
12. Can two pilots share an A320 sim slot?
Yes. A four-hour slot is normally split between two candidates. Each flies as Pilot Flying for their own check and as Pilot Monitoring for the partner.
13. Is AEROWA an EASA-approved ATO?
AEROWA delivers training through EASA Part-ORA-approved partner ATOs. The current course certification and examiner authorisation references are disclosed on the booking confirmation for each session.
14. What documents do I need for an A320 LPC?
EASA Part-FCL licence, valid Class 1 medical, passport, pilot logbook with recent PIC or SIC sectors, last LPC and OPC records, and — if applicable — your PBN endorsement record.
15. When should I book my A320 revalidation?
Four to six weeks in advance for preferred daytime slots. Last-minute slots within seven days are sometimes available.
